10 Steps in the Stainless Steel Mug Manufacturing Process
Stainless steel mugs are made through a series of forming, welding, polishing and inspection processes. At RakaCups, we use food-grade stainless steel and carry out quality checks throughout production to ensure durability, appearance and safe use.
Below are the 10 main stages used in our stainless steel mug factory, from raw material preparation and deep drawing to custom logo printing, final inspection and packaging.
Raw Material Cutting
Food-grade stainless steel coils are cut into round blanks according to the required mug size. For double-wall mugs, separate blanks are prepared for the inner and outer shells.
Deep Drawing and Forming
Hydraulic presses deep-draw the stainless steel blanks into cup-shaped inner and outer shells. Several forming stages may be used to achieve the required height, diameter and wall shape.
Washing and Drying
The formed shells are thoroughly washed to remove oil, metal particles and surface residue. They are then dried before trimming, welding and polishing.
Rim Trimming
The edges created during forming are trimmed and smoothed to achieve an even rim. This improves the fit, appearance and safety of the mug during the following assembly processes.
Double-Wall Welding
For insulated double-wall mugs, the inner and outer shells are precisely joined and welded. The welds are checked to ensure a secure structure before surface finishing.
Polishing and Surface Finishing
The mug surface is polished to create a brushed, satin, glossy or mirror finish. After polishing, our team checks each mug for scratches, deformation and uneven surfaces.
Handle Welding and Re-Polishing
For mugs with handles, the handle is positioned and welded securely to the mug body. The welded area is then polished again to remove welding marks and create a smooth, consistent finish.
Custom Logo Printing
Customer logos can be applied by laser engraving, screen printing, heat-transfer printing, embossing or debossing, depending on the design, order quantity and required finish.
Final Quality Inspection
Before packing, the mugs are checked for dimensions, surface finish, weld strength, leakage and logo accuracy. Products that do not meet the requirements are separated for rework.
Packaging
Each mug is cleaned and protected to prevent scratches during transportation. Standard packaging includes polybags and individual boxes. Custom color boxes, sleeves and gift packaging are also available.
